News: StoneCAD 5 does SketchUp.  Did you know you can link your StoneCAD texture map images directly to SketchUp.  Check the 'Goodies' directory in your StoneCAD installation.

Users are reporting this with some amount of frequency.  Furthermore the users are reporting being told to pay $40 or more to download the StoneCAD application!

Okay - first the good news.  As of today Owens Corning's server has not been hacked or hijacked.

The bad news:  the users reporting this problem have a malicious virus.  This is a virus that is redirecting the request to the Cultured Stone site to a fraudulent site requesting payment for the StoneCAD software.

We (the StoneCAD support and development team - not Owens Corning) recommend if you encounter this error to go to http://free.avg.com  .  That's currently our favorite free virus scanning software.  Download and install this tool and inoculate your machine.  You could also dump your Windows machine for a Linux, or OSX machine - but that's another discussion all-together.

Not sure what would be causing this error.  We are very very close to releasing a version 6 (hopefully within the next week or so).  StoneCAD 5 is getting pretty old and with the release of Vista and Win7 I suspect we will be seeing more and more 'Director Player Errors' with that version of the application. Please take a look at http://projects.vizfx.com/stonecad/patterns/Tutorials/ for instructions on manually installing patterns.  There is not a tutorial on how to do it totally manually without the use of StoneCAD, but tutorial #3 shows where the patterns belong in the AutoCAD environment. The patterns are in (by default) are in C:\Program Files\Cultured Stone\StoneCAD 5\Contents\Application\resources\assets\hatch.  You can manually copy them that location to where you need them.

I've loaded SC5 from both disc and internet. It loads OK, I've registered it OK and all the buttons on the Main Menu  work except the Hatch Patterns
When I click on it I get the little box that says. "Director Player Error"
Script Error, Continue? Y or N. Yes will just bring up the "Director Player Error" box again, No will shut down the program.
I've use SC4 for the past 5 years and loved it, HD fried so I'm trying to reload SC5 with no success, HELP

Yes, thanks to the brilliant minds at AutoDESK they've changed the pattern rules once again. (Note a little bit of sarcasm in my post???)

The good news is the patterns look to work with AutoCAD 2010 without any problems.  The bad news is they need to be manually installed from StoneCAD 5.  The Autoinstall feature is broken. I've tested both 32 and 64 bit versions of AutoCAD 2010 in both XP (sp 3) and Vista 64 bit OS.  All looks to be stable and functional.  Here's the secret:

Install the pattens using the manual install routine from StoneCAD into the following directory:

\Program Files\AutoCAD 2010\Support

For single users that should normally be found from the root of your C:\ drive. If you have a network install of AutoCAD your 'Program Files' directory may be located somewhere else.

Once the .pat files are in that location all the old tricks still work.  From the 'bhatch' window select 'Custom' then click on the 'Swatch' icon and just like magic you should now see all your StoneCAD patterns in the list.

you should be able to utilize the .dwg details. I'm not sure if the pattern files work.  The pattern files on StoneCAD were created for Vectorworks 11 and we have not tested version 12 or 12.5 yet.
